Boy oh boy! What a great film!
This Romanian film, made in 2002, was probably one of the best Romanian films, and films in general I`ve ever seen. First of all, because it was something that coul have been done only through the art of film, no other art could have done that. The technique of telling the story was original, beginning to end.
After that, the story itself, about more Romanians living in the year 2000, struggling for a better life, a life they think will be provided by the Western world. But going away is not that easy, as the film shows us, and there are turnings of the situation every few scenes.
In the end, everything happens but what you would have expected.
The characters are so real, and the plot has so many turns, it will let you with your mouth wide open.
Definitely watch it, try to understand the mentality of stupid Romanians find subtitles and be dazzled.
(There are so many scenes I`m sure foreigners won`t get or will not understand as they don`t know the Romanian reality. The characters are totally close- minded and have low lives, so don`t make generalizations, please.)
